I was more than happy to start reading Dream Me by Kathryn Berla when I first heard of it. It's a YA Sci-Fi? Say no more. I love reading Sci-Fi, just as much as I like watching it!
So when I heard the premise of the book, I was a little interested. The book starts off with Zat, and him describing the Earth in which he now lives - a total and complete wasteland. One where people are fleeing and going elsewhere in order to survive. But not Zat. He plans on doing something different - staying behind and time travelling.
I was intrigued when I first heard this portion, because who in their right mind doesn't like time travel? Fast forward - or is it back track? - to the past, where we meet Babe. She's the new girl in town (with a lot of experience in being the new girl). Her family has just relocated to the Peninsula – Sugar Dunes, Florida. Her father is a Pro-Golfer, which means that he has to go where the money is. And his family has to follow right along.
I have to say, that the book was a little slow to start. And I had to keep reminding myself that we were reading (2) different POVs. Usually, I can follow right along with no problem, but had a little of a struggle with this one. Other than that, once the book picked up I was fine. I enjoyed the way that the characters were developed. And even though we don't see the "normal" way in which they fall in love, it's still a good read and storyline.
I'm definitely interested to read more from this author and see what more she has to offer her readers. As for this book, I definitely give it 4 stars, because it was well written. I know that not everyone has the same reading interests, and that's okay.
